Here and Back Again

After spending January, 2025, camping in Florida, Roger and Jeri take two days to tow to Blue Lake Camp, near Andalusia, Alabama. Enjoying unseasonably warm weather, Roger helps to lead a four-day spiritual direction training event. Taking a couple of days to tow to Vicksburg, Mississippi, winter weather returns with a vengeance.

The National Military Park at Vicksburg preserves the earthworks, artifacts, and history of the Siege of Vicksburg, during the American Civil War. Given our nation's current state of political and cultural dysfunction, the messages of the many monuments in the park seem especially poignant. Here are some photos of the Illinois Memorial, taken in the park:

It's noteworthy that the seal of the State of Illinois closely resembles the seal of the United States of America. Whereas the motto on the Illinois seal reads, "National Union-State Sovereignty," our national seal's motto reads, "E Pluribis Unum," which translates to "Out of Many, One." It's something to ponder, and we do.

Here are more images from the park:

Roger's and Jeri's son, Stephen, recommends a restaurant, so of course, lunch is a must:

After the nights that had been scheduled, plus another night, waiting out a day of thunderstorms and tornado warnings, a tow to middle Louisiana is in order. While traveling through Pineville, Louisiana, the travel trailer blows a wheel bearing. The roadside assistance insurance company provided no help and no calls back. Road Warriors had good online reviews associated with its mobile RV repair service, so contact was made, and they (Earl McGee and "Gizmo") come to the rescue. They repaired the travel trailer and gave good advice, enabling us to get to our overnight campsite before dark. Thanks, Road Warriors!

It takes two days of travel to reach Lake Texana Park and Campground, Texas, where Jeri and Roger plan to live for six weeks. The Elvis impersonator comes here for a show:

News of our new grandson arrives via text message:

A day trip to Corpus Christi, Texas, yields the opportunity to tour a WWII aircraft carrier, the USS Lexington:

It's all part of the adventure. Blessings to all!
